Community Purim Shpiel for Families

Sunday, February 21; 1:30pm

Purim is a time of joy, costumes, funny skits (shpiel), and giving gifts to friends and for those in need. Our Purim tradition of telling the story is moving outside on to the Grant Family Patio. Leah Boonin and Caroline Saliman along with special guests from the community will tell the story of Purim with laughs and songs in 20 minutes or less. You bring your own chairs, warm blankets and hot chocolate. We will have a designated spot for your family to enjoy the show at a safe distance. Everyone is invited to dress in costume and we will have a parade as you leave the show and return to your car. Advance registration and health screenings are required.

We will be collecting non-perishable food in our parking lot from 12 pm - 3 pm to benefit Community Food Share.

The Masking and Unmasking of Purim

Tuesday, February 23; 12:00pm

How and when do we hide? What are the moments in which we reveal ourselves? Costuming and masking are central to the Purim story. In this year when we are so accustomed to wearing masks, what can we learn from Esther? How and why do we hide and show ourselves in our lives? Bring your favorite covid or non-covid mask to this online session!

#MeToo and the Megillah

Friday, February 26 at 12:30pm

Vashti says no. Esther says yes. Each exerts power to control her destiny or shape events. Amidst the laughter, the noise, and the (it's a mitzvah at Purim) inebriation of Purim, what do we see and what have we ignored about gender and politics in this...maybe not so...familiar story?
