60 Faces of Har HaShem

For our 60th Anniversary, we wanted to celebrate what makes Har HaShem the community it is — its people. Through this initiative, we’re celebrating a selection of the members and families who have made a meaningful impact on our community.

Inspired by our value of בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים – b’tzelem Elohim (in the image of the divine), this project aims to highlight some of the people and families who make our community so vibrant and special, deepen our connections with one another, and honor the unique perspectives each person brings to Har HaShem.

This project was made possible through the dedicated work of our volunteers — Sabina Zolot, Jane Zirkin, and Tamara Bodner — and through the artistry of Bruce Henderson, who personally met and photographed our members in their environments.

From 35 Families to 500 — and Countless Memories in Between

In 1965, 35 Jewish families gathered in Boulder to welcome Shabbat and seek community. From those first gatherings grew Congregation Har HaShem — a place where generations have learned, celebrated, and worked for justice together.

This November 14–16, we were thrilled to celebrate 60 years of Har HaShem. With more than 500 families now part of our congregation, we spent an incredible weekend honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking ahead to our future.

Proclamations for Har HaShem

In honor of Congregation Har HaShem’s 60th Anniversary, we are delighted to share that both the City of Boulder and the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) issued proclamations celebrating this milestone.

The City of Boulder recognized Har HaShem’s decades of vision, service, and commitment to justice—from its beginnings as Boulder’s first Jewish house of worship to its ongoing work supporting vulnerable communities.

The URJ, through President Rabbi Rick Jacobs, offered heartfelt congratulations, praising Har HaShem’s steadfast spiritual leadership, its embodiment of Torah values, and its role as a beacon of Reform Jewish life.

We are deeply grateful for these honors as we mark sixty years of community, purpose, and blessing together.
