Wednesday, December 4, 2019 • 6 Kislev 5780
6:30 PM - 8:00 PMHar HaShem South Building in the FoyerWhat happens when one travels to the birthplaces of one’s grandparents?
David Bernstein will talk about how looking into his family’s roots in Ukraine and Belarus drove him to make this spiritual and emotional trip. He will share photos and words of appreciation he offered to the memory of those who endured the hardship of overland and oceanic travel to improve the lives of themselves, their children and grandchildren and generations to come. He will also discuss visiting several mass grave sites where residents were executed by Nazi troops when they occupied Jewish communities in this part of Eastern Europe.
This session will explore, through David’s personal experience, the insights we gain when confronting and honoring the threads that make up the tapestry of our lives.
