While focusing mostly n the here and now, Judaism has extensive ideas, beliefs and writings about the afterlife. In this three session class, we will explore Jewish ideas concering the afterlife, resurrection, gehennom (hell), the role of the kaddish prayer and more. We will study bibilcal ideas, rabbinic ideas, kabbalistic ideas and contemporary ones too. We'll refer to Philosopher/Rabbi Neil Gilman's The Death of Death: Resurrection and Immortality in Jewish Thought as well as Rabbi Paul Raphael's book, Jewish Views of the Afterlife. Please come with your questions!
