In 1492, Monarchs Isabella and Ferdinand ordered that all Jews convert to Catholicism or leave Spain.
At that time, historians believe at least 200,000 Jews lived in Spain. Some converted; some were burnt at the stake; and many left for other countries.
In October 2015, Spain extended citizenship to descendants of Jews forced to flee under the Inquisition.
In this two session class, we will explore what happened to those 3.5 million people around the world that are thought to have Sephardic Jewish ancestry.
