Singing connects us to our deepest selves and can open our hearts and souls to the world. The Chassidim found that the beautiful words of our prayer book can sometimes inhibit our deepest prayers from coming to the surface. They used melodies with nonsense syllables, like “ya bai bai” or “ya lai lai” called niggunim. These simple melodies and niggunim allowed them to open up and draw out the innermost prayers of their heart and soul. We will explore this practice together. Join us as we come together to sing and open our hearts and souls in community.
