Bryant Heinzelman - Director of Teen Engagement

Bryant Heinzelman is a veteran of the US Army, is a graduate of The Military Intelligence College NTTC Cory Station, and spent 8 years as an intelligence analyst working in Europe, Florida, Texas, and the Middle East.  While proudly serving in Iraq, Bryant saw ways in which a lack of empathy towards, and distrust of the “Stranger” can have a devastating effect on a community. Upon returning to the US, he shifted his focus from military intelligence to Jewish community building and interfaith outreach. Bryant has taught both in the military and at Har HaShem; he brings experience from Moishe House, a peer-led, home-based program for young Jewish adults, and Jewish early childhood development boards. Bryant is devoted to serving the Jewish community. As a military leader, Bryant prides himself on being able to motivate and lead his students by example, while encouraging them to seek their highest truest potential. He is most passionate about building inclusive sacred spaces where all feel welcomed, seen, and needed by their community. This hobby bluegrass and country singer from Tennessee with aspirations of rabbinical school believes wholeheartedly that to live as a Jew is to live with the inherited memory of slavery and a fight towards freedom. Bryant looks forward to helping our teens grow as a community and in their kavanah (intention or sincere feeling).

Har HaShem aims to include individuals of any age who may temporarily or permanently move, hear, see, touch, think, learn, communicate, process stimuli, and/or experience emotions differently.
