The Star of David Program addresses the needs of Jewish elders. Congregation Har HaShem is committed to expanding activities of special interest for seniors and adults of all ages. The Star of David Program serves as an umbrella for many different groups, but also with new additions being added.

Sociable Seniors meet every first and third Sunday at Panera Bread on 29th Street in Boulder for brunch. For information about Sociable Seniors, contact Joanne Eaton at (720) 304-2616. Click here to check the calendar for dates.

Ziknei Seniors of Har HaShem meet monthly at the synagogue on a Thursday at noon for a brown bag luncheon and speakers on a variety of engaging topics. All are welcome. Bring a dairy or vegetarian lunch. For information about Ziknei, contact Nanette Mannheimer at (303) 494-4646.

  • Katherine Schwartz, Director of Lifelong Learning at Har HaShem will speak about “Arts as Midrash: How arts have been used to interpret the Torah” at the meeting at noon Thursday, April 20.
  • Ziknei’s Thursday, May 18 meeting at noon is an event that is not just for seniors. It will be a presentation by Kathryn Bernheimer, Cultural Arts Director of BJCC.  Kathryn is a dynamic speaker and  Ziknei group invites all who are available to come and join us for this event. She will present a film that was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short.  It is titled “Joe’s Violin” and depicts how a donated musical instrument forges an improbable friendship between a 9l year old Holocaust survivor and a Bronx 12 year old schoolgirl.  Discussion after showing.  Bring your own dairy or fish lunch.

  • Our Thursday, June 15 is our second annual Lunch out at noon.  We will gather at Tsing Tao Chinese Restaurant  located at 607A South Broadway just east of King Sooper in Table Mesa Shopping Center.  The restaurant faces north and has ample parking.  No restrictions upon what you order, just enjoy! 

*Please bring a veggie/dairy lunch to these gatherings.
